The Chevy Blazer EV vs. Honda Prologue: The Same, But Different

Did you know that if you go to your Chevy dealer to look at the Blazer EV or a Honda dealer to look at the Prologue, you’re almost looking at the same vehicle? That’s right. Honda wanted to get into the EV game and the quickest way they could do it was by teaming up with GM to use the same architecture and share a factory to develop and produce the Prologue.

Let’s Start with What’s the Same

The Blazer EV and the Prologue share a wheelbase and have the same 85.0-kWh lithium-ion battery. If you look at these two electric SUVs side by side, you may notice they have the same low, wide stance, but overall, they have a different look.
Both SUVs share the front and rear suspension subframes, the frame rails, and the floor, but once you get down to the details, Honda strikes out on its own.

But What Makes the Prologue Different?

The basic architecture and the battery pack may be the same, but this is where it ends. One of the key differences between the two vehicles is the tuning. The Prologue uses different dampers and springs, and the steering has different calibration than the Blazer, making it softer.
Inside, the Prologue is different. It has a more subdued feel than the Blazer. In other words, it has a Honda style as opposed to the sporty and bold Chevy Blazer.

There’s a Difference in Power, too

Power for the Prologue starts with a single motor that generates 212 horsepower. If you choose the single motor setup for the Blazer, you’ll get 220 horsepower. Both models offer an all-wheel drive setup that uses two electric motors. For the Honda, it puts out 288 horsepower and gets 333 pound-feet of torque, but for the Blazer, the two motors combine to generate 300 horsepower.
The Blazer offers two more power options. The RS is a rear-wheel drive model that uses one motor with a larger battery that helps it produce 365 horsepower. The Blazer SS is the most powerful of the bunch with two motors that churn out 595 horsepower.

Who Gets the Most Range?

Since we are talking about EVs here, we should compare range. The front-wheel drive Prologue can go up to 296 miles on a full charge, and the all-wheel drive version can go up to 273 miles.
Get behind the wheel of an all-wheel drive Blazer EV and you can drive up to 283 miles before you need to charge back up.

Similar Technology Thanks to GM

The 11-inch screens in the Prologue are borrowed from GM. You’ll get a touchscreen and a driver information display. But when you sit down in the Blazer, you’re greeted by a 17.7-inch touchscreen that is not only user-friendly, it’s highly customizable.
So whether you head to a Chevy dealer or a Honda dealer, you can get a two-row electric SUV with impressive range and lots of fun power.
